Back to Work and 2 Month Check-Up

I started back to work last week. The first day I was really wishing I could just be a stay at home Mom but by the end of the week I was back in the groove and happy to be working. Sarah stayed home with me and was great and allowed me to get lots of work done. Friday we went to see Dr. Shelley for Sarah's two month check-up. She weighed 10lbs 14oz and was 23.25 inches long. Dr. Shelly said she looks and is doing great! He told us that we could add rice cereal to her diet and hopefully get her to sleep longer at night. We have added the cereal but so far she has not slept through the night. She is going without a middle of the night feeding but she still wakes up around 3 or 4 am and needs to be changed and put back down. Gary is being a trooper and taking on this responsibility while I pump! Hopefully she will turn the corner soon! Sarah was supposed to start daycare this past Monday but with her doing so well with me last week and all of the sickness going around I decided to keep her home. Tentatively I am planning to keep her with me next week as well but she has been refusing to nap in the afternoons this week so she might be starting daycare next week! We will see. I know she is eventually going to get sick, I just want to prolong it as much as I can. Below are some pictures I took of her last week.

Hey Everyone

Hello everyone, thought I would try another post, it has been quite sometime, but Jen is doing a great job updating it. I have been pretty busy, going to Armstrong Atlantic State University "AASU" full time, working 30 hours a week at Erac, and trying to help Jen out as much as I can. She is doing a fantastic job mothering, and I am in awe of the way that she handles Sarah Kate. We are excited for today, Notre Dame and Alabama both open and are in the Top 25! We have had some work done around the house, I am attaching some landscaping photos, and pics of the garage. Jen, Sarah Kate and I spent Sunday hanging shelves and organizing, hey it only took 2 years to get it done, enjoy and see everyone soon.

2 Months Old

Today Sarah Kate is two months old! We are having so much fun together. She is so amazing and I cannot imagine life without her. We are really starting to get into a groove/routine. It will change a little in the next couple of weeks as I go back to work and she starts daycare, but we will adjust. Below is a video and some pictures I took today. She was cooing and smiling before I started recording and of course she stopped when the camera was rolling. Oh well, she is looking cute anyway. We had a great day having pictures taken by Jennifer Grayson (http://www.jennifergraysonphotography.com/). I cannot wait to see them.

Play Time

Here are some cute pictures I recently took of Sarah on her play mat and snoozing on the couch. This is our last week of vacation together. I am trying to soak her up as it will be back to the grind for me and off to school for her! Enjoy!

10 lbs - 8 Weeks

Mom and I took Sarah to the Pediatric office next door to mom's office and weighed Sarah. She is unofficially 10 lbs. I say unofficial because we did not get her naked to weigh. That explains why she is getting so heavy in her carrier! I guess breast milk is good, nutritious eats!

Out and About

Sarah and I are enjoying our last couple of "vacation" weeks together. I start back to work September 8th and it is off to daycare for her. Yesterday we visited the Nuns at St. Vincents so that they could get a peak at their future student (class of 2028, I think). Everybody oohed and awed over her, of course. Today, we are going to Nee-Nee's office for lunch since she will be gone for two weeks on her Alaskan cruise. We might even visit Ms. Christy and Ross. The day to day stuff is still going well. I am trying to start an evening routine of a walk around the neighborhood, followed by a relaxing bath before feeding and bed. Sarah seems to be enjoying both. Since I have not mentioned the dogs recently, they are both doing well and accepting Sarah as an inevitable part of the family. They do notice her and give her a little sniff every once in a while. They often follow me into her room when I am changing/dressing her.

Sleep and Smiles

Sarah Kate will be 7 weeks old tomorrow and she is growing so fast! Last night she slept 5 consecutive hours. If you have kids, you know this is a big deal. If you don't have kids, don't take for granted your uninterrupted sleep! I hope this is the beginning to sleeping through the night and not a fluke! Sarah is also starting to smile as a reaction to your smile. She is a little stingy with these smiles currently but I am confident they will be plentiful soon!
Gary started school full time this week in his pursuit of a teaching degree. He taking three history courses and one English. Sounds like a lot of reading and paper writing to me. I am so glad I can say, been there, done that!

I will be going back to work Tuesday, September 8th. I am both excited and sad about this. I am ready to get back to my job and customers but sad that I will not be with my girl all day. Traveling will be an even tougher one but I am not doing that for several more weeks still.
